About KFUEIT (Khawaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology)
Khawaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology (KFUEIT) is a public sector university established in 2014 by the Government of Punjab in Rahim Yar Khan, southern Punjab. The university is named after Khawaja Ghulam Fareed (1845–1901), the revered Sufi poet, philosopher, and scholar who was born in Kot Mithan, near Rahim Yar Khan, and is one of the most celebrated figures in Saraiki and Sindhi literary traditions.
KFUEIT was founded to address the severe shortage of engineering and technology graduates in southern Punjab — a historically underserved region in terms of higher education infrastructure. Located in Rahim Yar Khan, the university draws students from Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, and adjacent districts of southern Punjab and northern Sindh. It is fully recognised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and follows all HEC academic standards.
All programmes at KFUEIT are delivered on a semester basis following the HEC 4.0 absolute grading scale. Engineering programmes additionally align with Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) accreditation requirements.

How to Calculate Your KFUEIT GPA
GPA = Σ(Grade Points × Credit Hours) ÷ Total Credit Hours
Worked Example — BS Electrical Engineering Semester 3
| Subject | Credit Hours | Grade | Grade Points | Quality Points |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Circuit Analysis | 3 | A | 4.00 | 12.00 |
| Signals and Systems | 3 | B+ | 3.33 | 9.99 |
| Digital Logic Design | 3 | A- | 3.67 | 11.01 |
| Engineering Mathematics III | 3 | B+ | 3.33 | 9.99 |
| Programming for Engineers | 3 | A | 4.00 | 12.00 |
| Total | 15 | — | — | 54.99 |
GPA = 54.99 ÷ 15 = 3.67 — An excellent semester result at KFUEIT, placing this BS Electrical Engineering student on the Dean's List and well above the minimum CGPA requirement.
How to Calculate Your KFUEIT CGPA
CGPA = Σ(Semester GPA × Credit Hours) ÷ Total Credit Hours
Three-Semester Worked Example
| Semester | Semester GPA | Credit Hours | Quality Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Semester 1 | 3.50 | 15 | 52.50 |
| Semester 2 | 3.60 | 15 | 54.00 |
| Semester 3 | 3.67 | 15 | 55.05 |
| Total | — | 45 | 161.55 |
CGPA = 161.55 ÷ 45 = 3.59 — A strong cumulative result for a KFUEIT engineering student, well above the minimum and competitive for PEC registration and industry employment.
Convert KFUEIT CGPA to Percentage
Percentage = CGPA ÷ 4.0 × 100
| CGPA | Percentage Equivalent | Standing |
|---|---|---|
| 4.00 | 100% | Outstanding |
| 3.67 | 91.75% | Excellent |
| 3.50 | 87.5% | Distinction |
| 3.00 | 75% | First Division |
| 2.50 | 62.5% | Second Division |
| 2.00 | 50% | Minimum Pass |
KFUEIT Minimum CGPA Requirements & Probation
KFUEIT undergraduate engineering and technology students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.0 on the HEC 4.0 scale to remain in good academic standing. Students falling below 2.0 are placed on academic probation. Postgraduate (MS/MPhil) students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.5. Engineering students must also meet PEC accreditation requirements for programme completion.
| Programme Level | Minimum CGPA | Probation Threshold |
|---|---|---|
| Undergraduate (BS Engineering / BS CS) | 2.0 | Below 2.0 |
| Postgraduate (MS / MPhil) | 2.5 | Below 2.5 |
KFUEIT Dean's List & Academic Distinctions
KFUEIT awards the Dean's List each semester to students who achieve a semester GPA of 3.5 or above with a full course load and no failing or incomplete grades. Students graduating with a final CGPA of 3.5 or above earn their degree With Distinction. The highest-CGPA graduate in each programme is honoured with the Gold Medal at KFUEIT's annual convocation.
| Distinction | Requirement | Award |
|---|---|---|
| Dean's List (Semester) | Semester GPA ≥ 3.5, full course load | Dean's List Certificate |
| With Distinction (Graduation) | Final CGPA ≥ 3.5 | Degree endorsement |
| Gold Medal | Highest CGPA in programme | Gold Medal at convocation |
KFUEIT Campus & Programmes
Main Campus — Rahim Yar Khan
KFUEIT's campus is located in Rahim Yar Khan, the commercial hub of southern Punjab and the largest city in the Rahim Yar Khan district. The campus is designed as a modern engineering university with dedicated laboratories for electronics, computing, civil engineering, and mechanical engineering. Its location in southern Punjab makes it one of the few engineering universities serving students from this historically underserved region.
Engineering Programmes
BS Electrical Engineering and BS Civil Engineering are among KFUEIT's flagship engineering programmes, accredited by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). BS Mechanical Engineering and BS Chemical Engineering serve students targeting Pakistan's industrial and manufacturing sectors. All engineering programmes are 4-year (8-semester) degrees following PEC and HEC curriculum guidelines.
Information Technology Programmes
BS Computer Science and BS Software Engineering are KFUEIT's core IT programmes, preparing graduates for Pakistan's software industry, IT services sector, and government digital infrastructure. MS Computer Science and MS Electrical Engineering are available for postgraduate students seeking research and advanced technical careers.
Absolute vs Relative Grading at KFUEIT
KFUEIT follows absolute grading across all its programmes, as mandated by HEC Pakistan. Each grade corresponds to a fixed percentage threshold — a score of 85% or above always earns an A (4.00 grade points), regardless of the class average. There is no bell-curve adjustment or result normalisation.
The absolute grading system ensures that KFUEIT engineering graduates' GPAs are directly comparable with those from other PEC-accredited institutions across Pakistan when applying for PEC registration, government engineering service positions (via PPSC), or postgraduate admissions.
