About Rawalpindi Women University

Rawalpindi Women University (RWU) is a public women's university established by the Government of Punjab under the Rawalpindi Women University Act, 2004. Located in Rawalpindi, Punjab, it is the first dedicated women's university serving students from Rawalpindi, the twin cities region (including Islamabad), Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. The university is HEC-chartered and follows the semester system with the standard HEC 4.0 grading scale.

RWU offers undergraduate, postgraduate (MPhil), and PhD programmes across the natural sciences, social sciences, arts and humanities, education, and computing. Degrees from RWU are recognised by HEC and valid for government employment, competitive exams (CSS/PMS), and further study at HEC-chartered universities.

RWU Grading Scale (Official 10-Grade System)

A-3.6780–84%Very Good
B+3.3375–79%Good
B3.0070–74%Above Average
B-2.6765–69%Average
C+2.3360–64%Below Average
C2.0055–59%Satisfactory
C-1.6750–54%Pass
D1.0045–49%Minimum Pass
F0.00Below 45%Fail

The minimum passing grade is D (45–49%, 1.00 grade point). An F must be retaken before the credit counts toward graduation requirements.

How to Calculate Your RWU GPA

Your semester GPA at RWU is a credit-weighted average of all enrolled courses:

  1. Find the grade point for each course from the grading table above.
  2. Multiply each grade point by the course's credit hours to get Quality Points.
  3. Sum all Quality Points for the semester.
  4. Divide by total credit hours enrolled that semester.

Formula: GPA = Σ(Grade Points × Credit Hours) ÷ Σ(Credit Hours)

Example (BS Psychology Sem 1): Introduction to Psychology (3 cr, A = 4.00) + Statistics (3 cr, B+ = 3.33) + English (3 cr, A- = 3.67) + Islamic Studies (2 cr, A = 4.00): QP = 41.00. Credits = 11. GPA = 3.73.

How to Calculate Your RWU CGPA

CGPA tracks cumulative academic performance across all completed semesters:

CGPA Formula: CGPA = Total Quality Points (All Semesters) ÷ Total Credit Hours Completed

Use the CGPA tab in the calculator above — enter each semester's GPA and credit hours to compute your running cumulative CGPA instantly.

Example: Semester 1: GPA 3.73, 11 cr. Semester 2: GPA 3.20, 12 cr. CGPA = (41.03 + 38.40) ÷ 23 = 3.45.
