UET Taxila accepts TCAT (its own test) or ECAT/PEC-approved equivalents, each with its own scale. Change the test total to match whichever test you used.

What Entry Test (ECAT / TCAT) score do you need?

Set your target merit and we work backwards from your Matric and FSc marks to the Entry Test (ECAT / TCAT) score you need. The grid shows your merit at every score from 50% to 100% of the paper.

UET Taxila Merit Formula 2027: 17-50-33 and 30-70

UET Taxila’s own official calculator tool states both formulas directly:

Programme groupSSC / MatricHSSC Part-IEntry Test
Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Technology17%50%33%
BS Mathematics, BS Physics30%70%Not counted

The Engineering/Computer Science/Engineering Technology formula covers Civil, Environmental, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Electronics, Computer, Software, Telecom and Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, and Cyber Security Engineering Technology and Software Engineering Technology. The Mathematics/Physics formula is purely academic, with no entry test component at all.

How to Calculate Your UET Taxila Aggregate: Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Convert SSC and HSSC Part-I to percentages. Divide obtained marks by total marks and multiply by 100.
  2. Multiply by the weightage for your group. Engineering/CS: SSC × 0.17, HSSC × 0.50, Test × 0.33. Mathematics/Physics: SSC × 0.30, HSSC × 0.70.
  3. Add the numbers. The total is your UET Taxila aggregate out of 100.

Worked example: Engineering / Computer Science

A student scores 950/1100 in SSC, 490/550 in HSSC Part-I and 300/400 in the Entry Test.

ComponentMarksPercentageWeightagePoints
HSSC Part-I490 / 55089.09%50%44.55

SSC950 / 110086.36%17%14.68
Total merit——100%83.98%

Try these same numbers in the calculator above, on the Engineering preset, and you will get 83.98%.

Worked example: BS Mathematics / BS Physics

Same SSC and HSSC Part-I marks, no entry test needed:

UET Taxila Eligibility Criteria 2027 (Minimum Marks by Department)

Minimum eligibility and entry test requirements, confirmed directly from UET Taxila’s own eligibility page:

Department groupMinimum HSSC %Entry test?
Civil / Environmental / Electrical / Mechanical / Industrial / Electronics / Computer / Software / Telecom / Mechatronics Engineering60%Required (TCAT/ECAT)
Computer Science50%Required (TCAT/ECAT)
Cyber Security Engineering Technology, Software Engineering TechnologySee official noticeRequired (TCAT/ECAT)
BS Mathematics, BS PhysicsNot requiredNot required

Accepted qualifications include HSSC (Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, or Computer Science), HSSC (Pre-Medical with a condensed Mathematics course), DAE in a relevant technology (PBTE), and IBCC-recognised equivalents such as Cambridge/British A-Level or an American High School Diploma.

Marks for NCC and Hifz-e-Quran count only toward merit, not toward meeting the minimum eligibility percentage — the exact bonus amounts are not stated on the eligibility page we checked. Rounding a percentage up to reach the eligibility minimum is not allowed. Applicants must also be a bonafide resident of the relevant area and meet a medical fitness requirement (Form F-V).

UET Taxila Merit Impact: How Much Is Each Mark Worth?

For Engineering/CS, HSSC Part-I carries the largest weight; for Mathematics/Physics, it carries an even larger share since there is no test to dilute it.

ImprovementEngineering/CS (17:50:33)Mathematics/Physics (30:70)
+10 marks in HSSC Part-I (out of 550)+0.909 points+1.273 points
+10 marks in the Entry Test (out of 400)+0.825 pointsn/a
+10 marks in SSC (out of 1100)+0.155 points+0.273 points

For Engineering/CS applicants, HSSC Part-I and the Entry Test move your merit by similar amounts per raw mark, both well ahead of SSC. For Mathematics/Physics applicants, HSSC Part-I is by far the dominant factor, since there is no entry test at all.

UET Taxila Closing Merit: What Aggregate Do You Need?

There is no single number: closing merit depends on the department and that year’s applicant pool. Computer Engineering, Software Engineering and Computer Science are typically among UET Taxila’s most competitive departments.

Use the previous cycle’s official closing merit for your department as your target, then use the required-score tool above to see the Entry Test score you need to reach it.

How to Improve Your UET Taxila Merit Score

  • Confirm your programme group first. Engineering/Computer Science and Mathematics/Physics use genuinely different formulas.
  • Engineering/CS applicants: do not neglect HSSC Part-I. It carries the largest single weight (50%), more than the Entry Test.
  • Mathematics/Physics applicants: focus entirely on your academics. There is no entry test in this formula, so HSSC Part-I and SSC are the only numbers that matter.
  • Ask about NCC or Hifz-e-Quran bonus marks if eligible. Both count toward merit, though not toward the minimum eligibility check.
  • Apply broadly. Consider more than one university so a single test day does not decide your whole year.

Common UET Taxila Aggregate Calculation Mistakes to Avoid

  • Adding an Entry Test score to a Mathematics/Physics aggregate. This group’s formula does not include a test at all.
  • Using the wrong programme group’s formula. Engineering/CS (17-50-33) and Mathematics/Physics (30-70) are genuinely different.
  • Using HSSC Part-II or full FSc marks instead of Part-I. UET Taxila’s formula specifically uses HSSC Part-I marks.
  • Rounding your percentage up to meet the eligibility minimum. UET Taxila’s own eligibility page explicitly disallows this.
  • Treating the estimate as final. Only UET Taxila’s own merit list is official.

Frequently asked questions

What is the UET Taxila merit formula?

UET Taxila’s own calculator confirms two formulas. Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering Technology programmes: 17% SSC + 50% HSSC Part-I + 33% Entry Test. BS Mathematics and BS Physics: 30% SSC + 70% HSSC Part-I, with no entry test.

Does UET Taxila require an entry test for BS Mathematics or BS Physics?

No. UET Taxila’s own eligibility page states the entry test is "Not Required" for these programmes, and its formula uses only SSC and HSSC Part-I marks.

What is TCAT?

TCAT is UET Taxila’s own admission entry test, accepted alongside ECAT and other PEC-approved equivalents for Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering Technology programmes.

How is the UET Taxila aggregate calculated?

Convert your SSC and HSSC Part-I marks to percentages, apply the weightage for your programme group, and add the results. For example, Engineering with SSC 950/1100, HSSC Part-I 490/550 and Entry Test 300/400 gives 83.98%.

What is the minimum eligibility for UET Taxila Engineering programmes?

At least 60% in HSSC for most Engineering departments, with a required entry test (TCAT, ECAT, or a PEC-approved equivalent). Computer Science requires 50% HSSC.

Do NCC or Hifz-e-Quran give bonus marks at UET Taxila?

Yes, UET Taxila’s own eligibility page confirms both count toward merit, though not toward meeting the minimum eligibility percentage. The exact bonus amounts are not stated on that page.

How many marks is the UET Taxila entry test out of?

UET Taxila does not publish one fixed total across all accepted tests. This calculator defaults to 400 (ECAT’s scale) and lets you change it to match your test.

What Entry Test score do I need to reach a target merit?

For Engineering/CS, subtract your SSC and HSSC Part-I points from your target and divide by 0.33, then convert to your test’s scale. Use the required-score tool on this page to do it for your own marks.

What merit do I need to get into UET Taxila?

It depends on the department and applicant pool that year, so there is no fixed number. Use the previous cycle’s official closing merit for your department as a target.

Is this the official UET Taxila merit?

No. This is an independent estimator built directly from UET Taxila’s own published calculator and eligibility pages. Your official merit position is published by UET Taxila on its own admissions portal.

Why is my merit different from the one UET Taxila published?

Common reasons are using the wrong programme group (Engineering/CS vs Mathematics/Physics), using HSSC Part-II instead of Part-I marks, using the wrong entry test total, or rounding. Confirm the exact figures with UET Taxila’s admissions office.

Equivalence and recognition

How this page was checked. Both merit formulas (17-50-33 for Engineering/Computer Science/Engineering Technology, 30-70 for Mathematics/Physics) are confirmed directly from UET Taxila’s own official calculator (admissions.uettaxila.edu.pk/Calculator.php) and its Admission Eligibility page, read in September 2026. Per-department eligibility minimums, the NCC/Hifz-e-Quran merit-only bonus and other admission rules are confirmed on the same eligibility page. Entry test total marks are not published on the pages we could read, so this page defaults to 400 (ECAT’s scale) and keeps it editable. This site is independent and is not affiliated with UET Taxila.
